Description
In 1925, the Visiting Housekeepers Centre was first founded by Miss Barbara Blackstock to provide homemaking services to families where the mother is ill. By the end of its first year, 14 housekeepers were trained and in service. Today, VHA Home HealthCare (VHA) is a not-for-profit charitable organization that offers 24/7 health care and support services to people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. VHA’s goal is to provide clients with spectacular service when, where and how they want it to support their independence. Their Ottawa out-post is at Champlain Rehab Solutions which employs social workers, occupational therapists and physiotherapists and offers a wide range of rehabilitation services to adults and seniors in the home, workplace or community. VHA also offers dementia specific resources such as VHA Music Cares (which involves no cost access to personalized music via the Alzheimer Society of Toronto’s Music Project partnership) and Heart in Mind Activation Therapy.
